Sign and flags of Irish Ceilidhe Club of Rhode IslandFailte

Welcome to the website for the Irish Ceilidhe Club of Rhode Island.

Irish immigrants founded the Rhode Island
Ceilidhe Club in 1956 for the purpose of
uniting the Irish and Irish-American people
and providing a place to hold social activities
and share their common heritage. Monthly
dances were planned and Irish bands
were hired to play at these dances. Over 50
years later, Irish dances continue to be a
monthly event at the Ceilidhe Club.

In the 1980s, the word "Irish" was added to the
club's name, to clearly identify it as an Irish club;
thus making it easier for the club to be found
by prospective members who were not
familiar with the old Gaelic word "Ceilidhe"
(meaning social gathering or party). The club
has since been known as the Irish Ceilidhe
Club of Rhode Island.

The downstairs pub is open every Friday evening from 7:30pm until 12:00. A traditional Irish session is held on the first and third Fridays of each month, hosted by the talented musician Jimmy Devine. Complementary refreshments are served.

Monthly meetings are held on the third Sunday of the month at 4:30 pm.
